THE OLYMPIC GAMES IS A MAJOR INTERNATIONAL EVENT FEATURING SUMMER AND WINTER SPORTS, IN WHICH THOUSANDS OF ATHLETES PARTICIPATE IN A VARIETY OF COMPETITIONS.


 The colors of the five Olympic rings are blue, yellow, black, green, and red. They traditionally represent the five areas who are participating with the Olympic games. The five areas are North and South America (considered as one area), Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia. Every flag of a participating country has one of the colors of the rings.

 The Olympic symbol are five interlaced rings of equal dimensions in one or in five different colors, which are, from left to right, blue, yellow, black, green and red. The Olympic symbol expresses the activity of the Olympic movement and represents the union of the five the meeting of athletes in the Olympic Games.



The olympic flag was raised in  the Olympic Games in Antwerp 1920 for the first time.

Evaluation:
 Children looked on the internet for the flag of the Olympic and logos and read about them. They chose what to put in their presentation, they made a presentation and saw it in class. Pupils learned many things about the Olympics and will continue with other presentations.

 The Greece or Hellas , is a country in Southeastern Europe, on the southern end of the Balkan Peninsula, Eastern Mediterranean. Also occupies the 97th position among the 100 largest countries in the world. Capital of Greece and largest city is Athens.

 It is bordered to the northwest with Albania, to the north with Bulgaria and the Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) and northeast Turkey. It borders on the east by the Aegean Sea to the west by the Ionian Sea and south of the Mediterranean Sea. Greece holds the 11th place in the countries with the longest coastline in the 13,676 kilometers as it has many islands (approximately 2,500, of which 165 are inhabited), including Crete, the Dodecanese, the Cyclades, the Ionian Islands and many others. The highest mountain is Mount Olympus and the longest river Aliakmonas.


   
   It has a long and rich history during which brought great cultural influence on three continents. In this democracy was born and philosophy. Yet Greece is the birthplace of the Olympic Games, the drama, tragedy and comedy.



 The Greece became independent in 1830, member of the European Union (then the European Communities) in 1981, the eurozone since 2001, NATO since 1952 and is a founding member of the UN (1945). It is a developed country with a high per capita income and very high Human Development Index. Ranked as the 21st best country in quality of life in the world for 2010.



 The Greece consists of a large mainland, the southern end of the Balkans, which joined with the former Peloponnese mainland by the Isthmus of Corinth, since the Peloponnese after the construction of the Corinth Canal is actually the island. The country is surrounded by the Ionian, Aegean Sea, the Libyan Sea and the Sea Lykio. The Sea contains numerous islands, including Euboea, Lesbos, Rhodes and the island groups of the Cyclades and the Dodecanese, while south is Crete, the largest island of Greece and the fifth largest in the Mediterranean. South Crete is Gavdos, the southernmost island of Greece and Europe. The main islands of the Ionian Sea are Corfu, Kefalonia, Lefkada and Zakynthos. Southeast, between Rhodes and Kastelorizo, extends the Sea Lykio. Greece has a coastline of 13,676 km, which is considered extremely large, and due to the extensive horizontal territorial dismemberment and the rugged terrain of the area, and the crowd of countless islands, which are more than 2500 and is mainly a result of the collision of the African tectonic European plate. Its length borders approaching 1,228 chiliometra.Oi largest plains are of Larissa in Thessaly and Giannitsà in Central Macedonia. Geographically, Greece is divided into 9 apartments, which are divided into 51 counties.


 
 
   The territory of Greece is mainly mountainous or hilly. Much of it is dry and rocky, while only 20.45% of the land is arable.
